Dear Teachers,
University of Rochester’s Life Sciences Learning Center (LSLC) Outreach Program is providing free Virtual Field Trip programs for pilot testing. The Virtual Field Trip programs are adapted from NGSS aligned One Health education lessons–connecting human, animal, and environmental health.
If you would like to sign up to pilot test these Virtual Field Trip programs with your middle school and/or high school students, scroll down to complete the online registration form below. After registering, you will receive an email with details on how to access the Virtual Field Trip programs for pilot testing, as they become available. The titles of these Virtual Field Trip programs include:
HIGH SCHOOL VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP PROGRAMS
Ticks, Biodiversity, and Climate (~3-hours, 6-Part Series)
Jada, a student intern and Dr. Louis, a veterinarian notice an increase in dogs who are infected with ticks. Analyze data to correlate tick population levels, biodiversity and climate. Available Now
Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (~2.5-hours, 6-Part Series)
Sanjay has a life-threatening case of food poisoning caused by antibiotic-resistant Salmonella. How did the bacteria become multidrug-resistant? How could the bacteria spread to humans, animals, plants, and the environment? Available April 2022
MIDDLE SCHOOL VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP PROGRAMS
Mysterious Case of Brain Illness (~2.5-hours, 5-Part Series)
People from a New York City neighborhood became ill with encephalitis (brain inflammation). Zoo workers also noted a large number of dead birds. Is this related? Available Late March 2022
